TEXTILE INSTALLATION FOR KANASAGO BREWERY
A series of original textile pieces was created for the brewery’s garden space, designed specifically for weekend events. As temporary installations, the work focused on achieving both visual impact and practicality; allowing for easy setup and removal while maintaining a strong artistic presence.
Using traditional shibori techniques, bubble-like textures were developed to evoke the movement and effervescence of beer, linking the material expression of the textiles to the brewery’s identity.
This project provided an opportunity to explore how textile interventions can transform outdoor environments and enhance the overall visitor experience.

The gate was designed to be an eye-catching aspect of the facility, attracting visitors into the garden. It was inspired by curtains on a window, but also by "Noren", traditional Japanese entrance curtains.
In response to a client request to encourage visitor movement through a gravel area, stepping stone-inspired objects were created. Drawing from the concept of tama-ishi gravel in Japanese gardens, often used to represent flowing water, the design takes cues from traditional stepping stones.
The pieces can be easily installed using pegs, and their linear patterns allow them to be connected and arranged freely, enabling flexible, organic layouts.
The covers were made by upcycling offcuts of durable, weather-resistant awning fabric, combining sustainability with practical outdoor use.
